Alan’s latest book is a fully illustrated step-by-step complete course of Pilates matwork exercises, suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
Instructions for adapting poses with supports such as cushions, blocks and dynabands, and alternative moves for those with special needs are included along with clear information on anatomy and physiology so you understand how the body works. The Complete Pilates Tutor was published on September 1st and is available in print or Kindle editions.
Alan Elected Chair of PMA UK Chapter
Pilates Method Alliance – the worldwide association and certifying agency for Pilates teachers – has elected Alan Herdman Chair of the UK Chapter. Formed in 2001, the PMA’s mission is to foster community, integrity, and respect for diversity; establish certification and continuing education standards; and promote the Pilates method of exercise. The Alliance originated in the US but as the Method increases in reach, it now has Chapters in Mexico, Southern Africa, China and the UK. More information on the Pilates Method Alliance website.
Pilates Workshops in Shanghai
Autumn 2014 saw Alan’s first workshops in China for teachers of Pilates. Held at China’s first Pilates studio – Synapse Pilates – both workshops were a great success.
Teaching Pilates Internationally
Alan Herdman travels extensively to to teach and lecture on short workshops for trainee Pilates teachers worldwide. Over the past year he has lectured in America, Greece, Estonia and Italy, with further engagements booked.
Train to teach Pilates with Alan Herdman
Applications are being taken for Alan Herdman’s Teacher Training Course, starting in autumn 2015. This intensive one year course is run by Alan and his team to ensure that graduates are educated to the highest standard. Graduates are now teaching in Pilates studios, gyms and health clubs around the world.
